Kathy and Laiken

Yesterday I went to Syracuse to take some photo's for Laiken's first Christmas.

Wouldn't you know, my favorite doesn't have any Christmas anything at all...except love.

For My Public

These are a few of my favorite things.
Cookies are okay, but I have the biggest crush on Mo Rocca.
Hey, if it's a boyfriend on the cover of a book, he can't talk back...right?

109

I'm a nerd and can't get rid of the stitching lines, but I still like the photo.
It sure is tiny though. (That's what she said.)

Apparently, I'm very tractor-happy lately.

Friday, November 9, 2007

Ahhh....

This is by far my most favorite time of the year.
This is when I despise the city and wish I were home.

The thing is...

...if you don't want the photo on the blog, then don't say,
"I better not see that on the internet".

Pearl and her Grandpa Larry in the combine. See, city dogs can make it in the country.

She was a little nervous at first...but that didn't last long.

Happy Hallo-weenie!

Here is Pearl in her little Halloween costume.
Isn't she the cutest bumble bee you've ever seen?!
As you can see she absolutely hates clothes, but mommy loves her in them!
We just want to wish everyone HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Happy Birthday Brother!

Yesterday was my big brother's birthday. The big 30!

So here's to you brother. Hope you had a great day and got lots of presents! I thought I'd post a photo of you with a gun in case anyone had thought of calling you old.

BANG!

Too many paint fumes.

I moved to a new place last weekend. For a week now I've been doing a lot of painting. I think the fumes are starting to take a toll on me.
The image of the ducks and the hot-air balloon were painted in the kitchen. Today...they disappeared. I couldn't help but write a little note to Dave before I shot the ducks and popped the balloon.

Hello.

I'm a caterpillar. Someday I will turn into a butterfly, then someone will win the Nobel prize, then they will buy a wiener dog and a Delorean. All because of me...the caterpillar.
I guess you had to be there.

Paperback divorce.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....
It was a time, not that long ago, before bed I would read a little from a book. Now every night before I go to sleep I tool around on the Internet. Another soul sucked in to the endless clutches of technology. I'm sorry little book, so sorry.
See, more change.

change

I think about change. Sometimes it is good, sometimes not. But it is always present.

This is my 100th post. A few things have changed since I've started my little blog.

In no particular order:

Seasons, my jean size, my hair color, my profession, my marital status (kidding-just seeing if you're paying attention), the number of fish/snails in my aquarium, the number of instruments I own, how much I love my puppy (it is even more now), my feeling of welcome, more friends have babies, I've made some new friends, I feel like I've lost a good friend.

Happy 100th, little blog.

Pipe dreams.

If I were home, I would have probably just picked up this irrigation pipe so the harvest could begin (glad I'm not home). While the white plastic pipe is nice because it wouldn't burn your hand, it is quite a bit heavier and more awkward than the metal pipe. While I don't miss the picking up and laying out of irrigation pipe, this photo has some sentimental value.
Hi dad.

Monday, October 1, 2007

Here.

Here I:
found dinosaur bones, learned the hatred of laying out pipe, learned the bigger hatred of picking up pipe, drove tractors, almost got left, watched dad working on a diesel motor...time and time again, described my perfect horse, hunted, went sledding, moved cows, was a sand bur magnet, rode with dad in the combine, helped build a chute, miss with all my heart, began.

Two of a kind.

This photo was taken during the Nebraska vs. USC game.
I think it's obvious the Huskers lost.
Thank goodness I had friends over to help watch Kayley.

Give us the nice bright colors, give us the greens of summers, makes ya think all the worlds a sunny day...
Don't take my kodachrome away...

My first moon.

This is my first moon shot. It took a couple of tries...but I finally got it right. Yay me...yay moon! Why am I craving cheese?

One more.

One more chain I break
To get me closer to you
One more chain does the maker make
To keep me from bustin' through

One more notch I scratch
To keep me thinkin' of you
One more notch does the maker make
Upon my face so blue

One more smile I fake
To try my best to be brave
One more smile does the maker make
Because he knows I'm sad

We save lives.

There really isn't much to say about this. I blame it on sleep deprivation.
It is obvious I haven't gotten any nice creative photo's lately. Now that I'm working full time again I'm finding it hard to get out to take any. I can't seem to stop sleeping in in the morning. Ah well, I promise I'll get some new photo's up soon. Until then Sarah, this is the new post you asked for. I don't know what the big deal is...it isn't like anyone looks at this blog anyway.

Another great acomplishment.

Owen is getting so big. He is finally able to hold his own.

For My Brother.

Maybe you should up that percentage to something like...I don't know...75%.
p.s. Nothing runs like a Deere.

I don't like to brag...but today I'm going to.

Mmm....

Okay, this beer was still cold. It was Crappy Beer Night last night...and it was grand!
The Pabst - Amanda's
The High Life - Michael, Mitch, and Dave's (they each had their own).
The Schlitz - all mine.
The Old Style - again...ALL MINE.
(not pictured - Linsey's margarita)

I truly love crappy beer.

The making of things.

After all, aren't gnomes from Holland? Now, where the hell is Heidi?

I love this photo of me! See what I have to put up with while trying to make the above photo?
Hair blowing all over, camera strap about to hit me in the face, roommate in the car taking photos of me taking photos of a little plastic gnome named Gary. All the while my beer is getting cold. Come on!
It really was a great day.

If only...

On the previous post, anonymous posted: "try a glenlevite works fer me".
I think it is apparent that anonymous forgot what happened the last time I had a Glenlevite.
(see above photo)
I was home for Christmas. I drank my fair share of scotch, threw up in the shower, and passed out on the bathroom floor. I never did make it to the Christmas party I was intending to attend.
That has been a while and I think I am fully recovered now. So anonymous (dad) if you would be so kind as to buy me some Glenlevite...maybe I could get that good nights sleep I deserve.
Think about it...don't you want the best for you children.

I can't sleep.

Sunday, August 19, 2007

You never gnome.

You really never know where the day will take you.
I woke up this afternoon (I had worked my last night shift for a while), and roommate was ready to road trip. So, we grabbed Gary the Gnome and my cameras and the mullet wig and beers and away we went. We hit five or six small towns, some corn fields (see above photo), roommates family farm, and a tractor pull. Yes, a tractor pull.
As we were about home, a song came on the radio. The lyrics were saying something to the fact that life wasn't always beautiful but the journey was...I'm not sure exactly. But I thought...I don't agree with that. I think life is beautiful. Not just the journey of it all, but life itself. If it weren't, how else would one end up at a tractor pull in the middle of Nebraska, while wearing a John Deere hat I might add. That sort of stuff doesn't just happen. If one can see the beauty in that...you know what I'm talking about.

What are you...nuts?

This is one of my favorite photos. I have always absolutely loved it. I can't really tell you why, because I don't know myself. It could be because it reminds me of when dad and I went to the baseball game. That was a good day. It could be because the peanut reminds me of Jessica, who is a good friend. It could be because it always makes me want a peanut butter and jelly sand which (crunchy, of course). It could be because I'm a total sucker for a photo with a soft background (no editing involved in this one...this is 100% photographic skill-or luck, however you want to put it. i like to say skill). It could be because one nut is exposed, and the other isn't, which makes me think of humans-there is a side everyone sees and a side we hide away. But enough babbling, no matter the reason...it will always be one of my favorites.
So I guess yes, I must be a little..."nuts".

I'll blog a blur.

Looking back on my life thus far...a lot of it is a blur.
My childhood-kinda blurry. Adolescence-can't wait until I'm done with it! High school-hope it stays blurry. College-parts are crystal clear, others...yep, blurry. Wyoming-AAHHH! Moving to Lincoln-becoming a blur. College again-oh, mostly pretty fresh but I'm trying to blur it out as we speak. Golfing today-I need to blur out about 15 strokes.
This photo-you guessed it. But it is still lovely...as is my life thus far.

Variations on a theme:

The Beethoven in the backround gives me a hint for the title of this blog.
The clock on the wall gives me a constant reminder of my ten o'clock tee time.
The wiener dog licking the empty bowl of spaghetti gives me a ....wait, what? No she's not.
Yes she is.
This photo of Mitch gives me a reminder of what?...12 years ago? Holy crap, that is a long time.
(i told you i'd blog this photo)
I went downtown two nights in a row. It has been quite a while since that has happened.
I hate downtown*.
(*= O'Rourkes...i heart O'Rourkes)
Anyways, it seems that whenever Mitch and I end up downtown I always drag him to O'Rourkes. Here's to you Mitch. To new beers,
(maybe "beer" is plural, but I still like to say "beers)
letting me drag you where I will, and for being a good friend. Ho-0h!
"Just ask the school nurse...she's got like, five extra sticks in her drawer".

Fore!

Went golfing yesterday...maybe one of my worst rounds ever. The 18th hole went amazingly (maybe not a word) well so I am going again tomorrow. I'm probably begging for punishment. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. If you ask me...it is the Wii's fault that my game went to crap. Stupid Wii.

Wii...continued

Mitch and roommate and I had a bowling and a golf tournament last night. It was quite competitive, quite competitive. No punches were thrown and we are all still friends.
So I guess that's good.

I'm a pro!

Hey...that sort of looks like "Mii".
Lane and I got Sarah a Wii for her birthday. We gave it to her 53 days early. We had already played it when we gave it to her. Oops. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH!
Sarah, Lane, and Owen are on vacation this week and she was wonderful enough to lend me her Wii for the week. I would like to announce that I am now a pro golfer. No really, the game has me ranked as a pro. Take that bee-at....wait, what? Also, my right arm is very sore and I'm sleep deprived. Damn Wii...(i love you)

Three years.

Greg sent me these photo's of some of his fishing trips in Montana. For the first time since I moved back to Nebraska I can honestly say...it made me miss Wyoming. Ahh!! That's something I thought I'd never say.
It will be three years on the 14th since I left Casper. I still don't miss Casper, but I miss the mountains in northern Wyoming. We would take fly fishing trips up there. It was so peaceful and beautiful and secluded. I miss being able to only have to drive and hour to be in the mountains. My how things have changed.
Last week I brought my fly rod out for the first time since that August three years ago.
It was weird.

Even though...

Even though we are hard on ourselves sometimes, it is our true friends that are always there in the long run (even though I look wasted in this photo). Sarah is in the middle, she helped me become the person I am today. Even though sometimes I forget who that is or if I lose sight of myself...all it takes is a "oh come on!!" from Sarah and I am back on track. She is my rock, my survival, my life. Denise is on the right. We have lived together for a little over a year now. She has taught me spotted cow, truthfulness, and heartache. She is my roommate, my buddy, my faith in goodness. It is because of people like this that I keep on going. Hey-ay to friends, hey-ay to family, hey-ay to life!

Olive got to say is this:

ahhhhh.....

So refreshing is the taste of vodka and olive juice. It'll put hair on your chest.
(if that were true, my chest would be a hairy jungle of pleasure...mmm, mmm)
I like my martini's a little dirty and my men the same. Wait, what?
These little martini's have caused me more than a handful of "priceless" moments. I've ended up in giant flower pots on O street, hanging my head out the door while waiting for a train, falling in lust, messing around with friends, spending A LOT of money, and becoming a better person. All because of a martini.
Hmm, now I thirsty.

Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Wouldn't you Gnome it.

This creepy little devil is roommate's first Gnome. His name is Garry.
Garry is supposed to keep us safe by guarding entrances and whatnot. The little book that came with him said to keep him happy and content. If not, he could become upset. Everyone, please be nice to Garry. You never Gnome where he may show up next.
It would seem I had misjudged him.
He was in fact, just like all the rest.

Matrix

A shout-out to my darling little puppy. She puts up with me never being home and never complains. Unless you count the piddles on the floor that are out of nothing but pure anger.

In this photo she is in the middle of a somersault. It appears as though she is doing a Matrix impression. Maybe she is. She has a handful of other tricks too, which if you've ever met her I'm sure you've seen them. I take pride in my wiener. Wait, what?
